Slowing down

V rychlém tempu naší doby se stal spěch zcela běžnou součástí každodenní reality. Mnohdy si už ani neuvědomujeme, v jak křečovité tenzi se téměř neustále nachází naše tělo i naše mysl. Považujeme za nutné být výkonní i na úkor svých potřeb. Žijeme ve vyhořelé společnosti, kde se lidé vnitřně vyčerpaní mechanicky přesouvají od úkolu k úkolu jako stroje, protože jiný způsob života si sotvakdo umí představit v praxi. Výstava představuje díla třinácti umělců studujících na vysokých uměleckých školách v Drážďanech, Ústí nad Labem a Praze, z nichž každý toto téma originálním způsobem reflektuje. Prezentovaná díla nám připomínají, že zpomalení není znamením slabosti nebo neefektivity, ale příležitostí znovu se spojit se sebou samými, s přírodou a s okolním světem. Výstava vznikla v rámci projektu CRASHTEST, v rámci kterého kurátoři z řad studentů dějin umění realizují výstavu svých vrstevníků z českých a zahraničních vysokých uměleckých škol. Kurátorkami letošního ročníku jsou studentky dějin umění Univerzity Karlovy v Praze a Technické univerzity v Drážďanech.

//ENG: In today’s fast-paced world, rush and tension have become a normal part of everyday reality. We are so used to being stressed all the time that we don’t even notice it. We are always trying to be efficient, even if it means neglecting our own needs. Perhaps we live in a burned-out society where inwardly exhausted people move from task to task like machines, because hardly anyone can imagine any other way of life. Why is it so hard for us to slow down? The exhibition features the works of thirteen artists from art colleges in Dresden, Ústí nad Labem, and Prague. Each of them reflects the theme of slowing down in their specific way. Through the work of these artists, we are reminded that slowing down is not a sign of weakness or inefficiency, but an opportunity to reconnect with ourselves, with nature, and with the world around us. The exhibition was created as part of the CRASHTEST project, within which student curators from the field of art history curate an exhibition featuring their peers from art schools. This year’s curators are students of art history from Charles University in Prague and the Technical University in Dresden.//
